Angry Dumb terminal troubles

Hi All,
Ive got - what seems to me - a big problem. Hopefully theres a few people out there that will find this trivial. Well here it is:
*Ive got RedHat 7.0 installed on our server with every package installed, along a few updates (of which some are the mgetty packages).
*I have an old ADDS terminal (working on other nets)
*I have a 25pin - 9pin serial straight-thru cable with pin connections: 2-2, 3-3, 7-5.
*in my inittab Ive placed: S0:2345:respawn:/sbin/mgetty ttyS0
*my mgetty.config looks as such:
debug 4
fax-id 49 115 xxxxxxxx
speed 38400
port-owner uucp
port-group uucp
port-mode 0664
port ttyS0
speed 9600
data-only y
*After a init q, playing with the terminals setting and baud I still have'nt been able to get a login

Anybody care to educate me?
Thanks

I'm not sure, but I think part of your problem might be that you are using a straight through cable. I use a serial terminal at home, and I had to splice together a really wacky crossover cable. You might want to check out the http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Text-Terminal-HOWTO.html
for cable info and if you want boot up info and control over lilo etc, take a look at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Remote-Ser...WTO/index.html
