dsl router connection

I have pac bell dsl. I just bought a D-LINK-804 dsl router. I do not know much about network configurations. My windows machine successfully connects to the internet through the router. However, I cannot connect on my linux machine. I have an old version of linux mandrake on it. It has netconf, but I do not know how to use it? Can someone please help me?

well basically if you have a router, what kind of ip are you given, dhcp or static?

basically you can use netconf to easily configure it. the gateway would be most likely the routers IP, unless you have another machine or whatever as a gateway. the DNS should stay the same given by your ISP, and if the router is specifying a given or static IP determines all what and how to assign the linux box its connectivity.
