DSL Question

I use dsl to get to the internet. I know that DSL allows data to use a separate 'band' from voice, that is why you can accept incoming calls and send/receive data at the same time.

Knowing this, i am wondering if there is any way to have the computer answer calls coming in on the DSL line. That is:

dsl line ethernet
----------------| dsl modem |----------------------|hub|-------PC1
| |-------PC2
| |-------PC3

question is, per the above, can any of the PC's
somehow answer voice/fax calls thru the ethernet.

(probably not)

or do you need a separate phone line, plus modem like:

dsl line ethernet
----------------| dsl modem |----------------------|hub|-------PC1
| |-------PC2
| |-------PC3--phone
line

Or maybe there's special equipment that can accomplish...

dsl separates data and voice .. the data goes to "modem" .. the voice comes outon a voice port. Put a 3 way splitter on it and connect it all three pc's and then sit and watch .. and take bets on which pc picks the call up
