dsl problem, x keymap problem

ok.. i have two problems.
i'm using slackware 8.1 if that's of interest.
the first thing is that my dsl connection seems to go down after like 15 minutes of use. if i reboot to windows it works fine, also if reboot to slack. i'm kinda newbie so i don't have any idea what the problem could be.
then i have this keymap problem in x.
where do i change the x keymap?

1. what window manager do you use? kde, gnome? in either case, there shuold be some sys management tool that helps you setting up your keymap. if not, then you can try to edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config file and modify the following:

Option "XkbLayout" "de_CH" (for swiss german keyboards for example)
Option "XkbModel" "microsoft" (usually this is fine)

2. what do you mean by "your dsl connection goes down"? does this happen in windows too? if yes, it is obviously not a slack problem...

holpe this helps
