Hallo 2 all i m trieng to find any binaries or ther drivers for slack but i cant how else can i instal it ??Plz help cause i took now the dsl and i dont know what to do!!
so you dont have a LAN or router right? just this PC that connects to this DSL model via Ethernet cable? if this is the case youll have to setup a 'pppoe' connection. first make sure your network card is detected and up. post 'ifconfig' 'lspci' and 'lsmod' as root.
if im not understanding the question then let me know.
well sagem is wireless adsl router+modem i want to connect via ethernet and not 802.11
but i dont know what 2 do i ll try 2 do what u told me else i ll post .thanks
so its a wireless router but your connecting via physical ethernet cables?
check the documentation for it to learn how to configure it, its usually by using a web browser and going to something like http://192.168.0.1 or other LAN address depending on what the documentation says.
if you are connected with physical ethernet cable then this will be easy, otherwise if your the wireless connection youll have to learn how to setup the wifi connection. ill check back when you post the previously mentioned commands' output
hi m8's i have set up a dsl modem/wirelless router i have seen that slack has found my ethernet device but i can't put it to work it is like closed .i type lsmod and i saw that my ethernet card name is mii(eepro100) i type then modprobe mii and nothing happened if u have sth to say to me thx a lot
if after you type the modprobe command and recieve no output it means the module was properly loaded. whats the output of 'ifconfig eth0'? also the output of say 'ping linuxquestions.org' does your router use DHCP?
when i m tyoing ifconfig eth0 the output is exactly as i see it: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:06:1B:C9:74:E4
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:4 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:2360 (2.3 kb)
Interrupt:11 Base address:0x2000
with ping linuxquestions.org:unknown host
and yes my modem has DHCP ENABLED
the thing is that when i connect my other winpc via ethernet a ethernet led gets green unlike when i connect slack .
this line should have 'UP' at the beginning. run the command 'ifconfig eth0 up', see if you can ping linuxquestions.org again, and post 'ifconfig eth0' again.
ok i did that and now sais up but my modem doesn't seem that know it still no led green with lsmod eepro100 =1 but when i type ping linuxquestions.org i take unknown host again and with 192.168.2.1 my modems ip i take unreachable host.well i want t believe that u got sth else 2 suggest cause i dont know what else 2 do thx!!!!
ok then your connection isnt setup to use dhcp. look in your gui or from command line for dhcp tools.
if your on slackware then 'netconfig' is the command.
