DSL - how to set own idle threshold ?

Hi !

I would like to build a dsl router which takes care about the special rates of charge for dsl internet access. That means, I donīt wonīt to be disconnected after a fixed idle time. Is there a tool where I can set my own thresholds when the connection will be dropped ? Like the Multiprotocol router from AVM for Windows.
Example: I am charged for every full minute of internet access via my dsl provider. For the time I have a idle cutoff threshold of 30 seconds. If Iīm 45 seconds online (and thereafter idle) I will have to pay for two minutes. And thatīs what Iīm looking for: A tool which cuts the connection in case of idle state at, letīs say 59 seconds.

Does anybody know how to realize this ?

Thanks a lot !!!

Henrik

if you are using rp-pppoe

the /etc/ppp/pppoe.conf file has the option for DEMAND=

if you want it to stay up all the time then use this

DEMAND=no

if you want an idle timeout use this

DEMAND=300

where 300 is the timeout for idle time.

when the idle time expires the link will be brought down
