DSL 302G eth/usb

Hi people.

One of my main problems is , i cant view my own url ( I mean my own Domain name. ) from either linux or XP on my localnetwork...I can only view it like so http://10.x.x.x

I'm been told that the DSL 302G can only show sites on my network via

http://10.x.x.x only....but the out side world can see the URL ok...get my driff....

How many people out there are able to view their own URL on their own home network....

any one fill me in alittle to this problem...

OS linux fedora core 1 to hub XP to hub, Hub to ADSL unit..

network is http://10.x.x.x mask 255.0.0.0
anyway that all seems to be ok there....

TT

This is becuase your router probably doesn't support loopback natting. Put an entry in the hosts file of each local PC - ie:
10.x.x.x www.yourdomain.com

That should solve your problem.

I tried what you said and it didn't work..

[root@www etc]# vi hosts

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
202.x.x.x www.my_domain.com www
10.1.1.4 www.mydomain.com mydomain.com

If i type my domain name like so www.mydomain.com
my dsl unit log in box pops up.when viewed from a XP box.

same on the linux box. this log in box allows me to enter my config pages to allow ports etc etc...

any other help please

The 10. address should be the IP address of your webserver.

Then your hosts file should look like:
Code:
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
10.1.1.9 www.mydomain.com
