Driver for DSL USB Modem X7005Q

Hi All,

I am setting up my DSL USB Modem in my Debian Woody (2.2.20) installation. The modem is X7005Q from Xavi (I don't think it is a very popular one, but it was provided by my ISP and came with the driver for Windows).

I have a network card configured properly. I am able to ping this card (in fact, I use this card to connect to my Windows box).

I found out that a modem driver is not required if I can connect my modem to the network card directly. But I don't think this is possible in my case because there is no additional RJ45 slot in my modem (there is just a slot to connect the phone cable).

I thought the ACM driver might suffice and hence installed the acm, usbcore and usb-uhci modules, but no go. dmesg shows that a new device has been connected, but that it has not been claimed by any active driver. I am not able to paste the dmesg output for some stupid reason :-(

If I invoke adsl-start, I get a timeout error (I have entered the correct parameters when prompted by adsl-setup).

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,

Rajesh Jayaprakash

You can try this url - i have made my synch bin and got the 2nd led flickering , but I have not got my 'usb adsl wan modem' fully up and running under linux yet

http://sourceforge.net/projects/eciadsl/

Thanks for the URL. I could not find my modem in the list of supported modems. I think I'll stick to accessing my DSL connection through my Windows box for the time being.

Xavi usb modem X7005q does not support linux. see their website www.xavi.com.tw

x7005q

While I do not have x7005q , I think, from whatever I have read , fujitsu fdx 310 is x7005q and x7005 quasar2 is the fdx340 . I have the quasar 2 config , but no driver.
The website of fujitsu has links to the driver of fdx 310. Hope this helps.
Try and use the fdx310 driver and see how it sails, and do let us know
