Dos Printing from XP -> Cups -> Samsung ML-1740

Hi Guys,

I have an interesting question for ya's.

Now I have a working CUPS (Ver 1.1.23-10sarge) setup on Debian Sarge and Samba (Ver 3.0.14a-3sarge).

I can print from the cups management page (test prints)
I can print from windows.

But when I set up an lpt port using

net use lpt1 \\server\samsung /persistent:no

The document prints to the cups and completes:

Quote:

samsung-14 smbprn.00000026 Remote Downlevel Document chubby 3k completed at Sun Aug 20 11:57:36 2006
But nothing comes out of the printer.

I'm so far stumped! Anyone else tried doing something like this?

Hello,

the dos-box doesn't use the printer driver.

Share the Printer on the XP-box and

"net use lpt1: \\xp-box-name\printer-share"

I'll give that a whirl, thought i'd tried that, but alas my brain was not so good @ 4am the other morning.

Thanks, will respond with an update if i'm successful :)

Thanks (I have the same problem) - but when I do a:

net use lpt1: \\pcname\printername

it accepts it, but when I try to print with

dir > lpt1:

it gives "invalid parameter" :(

stupid XP..

Unfortunately I never found a resolution to the problem... (well I did but it wasn't fixing the software.. that story after more beer :P )
