domain style central user authentication
Is there a way that I can use a Linux server to authorize mac, windows and unix users centrally for a domain? Can I set up a domain with a Linux Box as a PDC where when a user logs into their machine, it authorizes with the Linux server which then authorizes them to use certain shares, resources and other machines as well as email services? I am currently using RedHat 9.

You can use "NIS". Unfortunately I do not have any experience with this, but you can use the Howto at http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/NIS-HOWTO/

Looks good! That's pretty much exactly what I want - it just seems really tough to configure. My other option is that Apple OSX runs a windows authentication server that I'd be willing to use. Is there any way to use this same type of authorization from the Linux box the a Windows Server?
