Doesnt load eth0 at startup

Hiya all, I finished my installation on gentoo Linux 2.4.26 yesterday. I used the LiveCD for the installation. During the installation I used my network card with loading the module:
Code:
Modprobe tulip
Now after installation and rebooting the system I got the error while booting:
Code:
* Bringing eth0 up via DHCP
* ERROR: Problem starting needed services
   "netmount" was not started
Also ifconfig eth0 gives: eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found.

So my guess is I missed this module during compiling. How can I fix this error. I already tried
Code:
cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
And chose the tulip card (think the correct one)
Code:
make && make modules_install
However still I couldn't use: modprobe tulip to start my eth0. I am completely new to linux and don't know how to proceed. Can someone help me?

I searched for this tulip.o for modprobing it, I did:
Code:
find / -name tulip.o -print
And it gave:
Code:
/usr/src/linux-2.4.26-gentoo-r8/drivers/net/tulip/tulip.o
Then i Tried modprobe tulip again, but gave still: Can't locate module tulip
Also when i first did:
Code:
cd /usr/src/linux-2.4.26-gentoo-r8/drivers/net/tulip
and then
modprobe tulip
It still said: Can't locate module tulip.o

Where is that dummy module coming from ?

Use the live cd to boot and then use
cat /proc/modules
and
/sbin/lspci

and post them here
