Does Slackware activate internet with pppoeconf

Have found three other linux that set up internet with pppoeconf. Several do not, missing or no info, and depend on DHCP?. (This newbie can't recall exactly the acronym) But it won't work on my service because I'm in China and for some inscrutable reason adsl service(provider) does not have a name and DHCP? will not accept a blank(as winxp does). Must have name.
Have just downloaded and burned ISO Slackware 11.0 which does not have live cd, in which case I would just try it out.
I would like to have a clear statement of yes or no, pppoeconf or not. Then I may risk a blind install of Slackware 11.0 if I'm fairly certain of getting online.

I'm glad to be getting into Linux. If Slackware can't make it, I'll have to use one of the others.
