Do I need a servlet to run applet from Apache?

Howdy!!
I have an applet.class and applet.html file in my /home/me/javaStuff directory which I can browse just fine with galeon. When I move these files to /home/httpd/htdocs/java I can no longer view the applet. It's a Swing applet. <edit> OK, I can run a regular java.awt.* applet through Apache, but this is a Swing applet that pops up a window. When I try opening it with a browser I just get a red X the same size as the popup window. Do you think this is a java issue or an Apache issue?
Thanks!

It sounds like the applet is not being sent to the browser. You should be able to confirm this by looking for 404 (missing file) errors in:
tail /etc/httpd/logs/error_log
and accesses in
tail /etc/httpd/logs/access_log

What html code are you using to refference the applet.

Got it....

It was a problem with my .class file. I edited and recompiled applet.java and it's working now. Thanks for your reply.
