DNS zone in two locations only working in local location.

Hello all,

I have an issue that I would think has a way to be made to work, but I can't find a solution. I have a zone called example.com. There is a DNS server in my local office and one in Japan. Both locations use example.com.

The problem is if I try to get to a local server, lets say localserver.example.com everything is fine. I have forwarding set to the remote DNS server. If I try to get to a remote server in Japan, lets say remoteserver.example.com it never finds the record. It seems to see the local zone .example.com and not forward because it thinks it should be in the local office. Where if I want to go to linuxquestions.org the BIND server seems to say, ok that zone is not here so I'll forward as is configured.

Is there any way to get this to work other than just changing the name of the local office zone to something like example.us.com? Is there a way to check the same zone name against two Bind servers in different geographic locations? We don't need to slave all those records as our office is smaller so we chose not to go that route either. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance
