DNS Time out's

Hi,

I Dont have a DNS on my network.
when i ssh or telnet to a IP Address, it takes ages for it
to give a responce.
Is there any way i can reduce these DNS Time out's. or disable it.

putting it in the host file is not really a option for me..

find a dns server with a better response time would be the first option. There are many many things that could cause DNS issues, network routing etc... You might want to run a packet sniffer like ethereal to capture what is actually happening to the network traffic while this resolution is failing.
