DNS setup for domain without www

Having a bit of trouble with a DNS entry for a website, what I am trying to do is send the website without any subdomain to a specific IP.

So domain.com instead of www.domain.com, I have set a wildcard in the DNS up but this seems to reference anything.domain.com. But not simply just domain.com, I am not sure of what else to do.

Have tried googling and all the answers just seem to say do the wildcard.

I have left the domain for over 24 hours just in case it was a slow DNS update.

You just use the @ symbol to reference the domain itself, instead of, for example, "www"

You use the '@' sign for this:

Code:
@ IN A your.ip.addr.here

Perfect thanks for your help will give it a try now. I had not clue what the @ was for to be honest I though it was something to do with mail.
