I have set up the DNS records on my computer for my domain merlin371.org but when i try to fqury my domain i get an error message that says

Loop detected! Probable cause is lame delegation to server with cached NS data

how do i get rid of the loop and do I need two different IP one for the prymary DNS and one for the web hosting i have the soncondary DNS set to be the one of the registar company they allow that

From the O'Reilly book "DNS and Bind" page 165

...delegating a zone to any name server not authoritative for that zone --
is known as lame delegation.

Does the error occur for you domain?

If so check the configuration of your zone file for lines indicating a primary nameserver or secondary nameserver which is not actually authoritative for that zone.

Has the registrar for your domain, whom you have indicated as SOA, updated their records yet?

If they have not yet updated their servers to include your information,
then they will not yet be authoritative, and hence the problem.

Try doing the following

In one windows

"tail -f /var/log/messages"

In another do

/etc/init.d/named stop
/etc/init.d/named start (it mght also be /etc/init.d/bind)

See if any errors are chucked up
