Question DNS problem

i have windows 2003 server plus 14 clients running windows XP and 1 linux server that is working as a router

my problem is that
my clients logon from the window 2003 domain server.
but i have a problem if i enter the dns server (2003 server ) address at clients side, my clients quickly enter into their logon .but if removed the dns then there is a 2 minutes delay to logon that is not affordable . so i configured each client dns to window 2003 server

now i want that each user can use net (not use proxy ,use linux as a router)
so if i enter the dns address of ISP and gateway of linux box , my clients can use internet

but now there is a delay to logon as i mention above

now tell me what i can do.

if i enter the dns of ISP mean internet but slow logon
but if i enter the dns of win2003 then mean quickly logon but no internet
i dont want to use proxy server
so help me

use WINS instead

Hi,

It seems like your Windows clients name resolution is DNS based. You may want to use broadcast or wins instead. So hopefully you may fix this.

Other options is to include in your windows clients an lmhosts file with the windows server address.

I hope this helps,
