DNS lookup not working with ICS and mandrake10

Hi all,

I posted an earlier thread about having problems regarding mandrake 10 and its internet connection sharing. Okay anyway I have reinstalled mandrake 10.0 from afresh and run the configuration script for my speedtouch 330 adsl modem, and removed shorewall and installed the new one from their site.

I've used their default policy and to create zones I ran the ICS setup wizard and then configured shorewall which then set up the ICS. The only problem is that I can get to a website on another pc by typing in the ip address of say google! Thats fine but if I try and look up www dot google dot com I get an error saying it couldnt resolve it? I dont know if this is to do with my DNS config or what? can someone help me? I feel i'm so close after coming so far.

As far as I know squid and bind were configured to run but ive not touched these.

The net and domain names works fine on the server but on the machines sharing the connection I can only get part of a website by using the IP address?

I kind of solved it! popped the isp dns addresses into my resolv.conf file and it now shares the internet!

Only problem is that now I need to find out how to enable the ports so I can remote control my server with ssh, telnet etc. Any help on this would be appreciated as well!
