hi people

im having problems with my DNS settings in Linux Mandrake. i am connected to a router which had DCHP setup on it so there is no need for me to assign the computer any settings need to browse the net. the only settings i need to put in are the DNS hosts. i put them in and then the net starts working bt after so long or a restart...the DNS hosts go back to the old settings so i have to go back in and change them to get the net working again.

anyone got any ideas why mandrake might be doing this? and any ideas of fixing this?

I run slackware so it's different, but when some OSs boot, they load settings from their own setup programs, in slackware "netconfig" starts a curses script that you can choose the net settings with. You may want to hunt down the command to configure that cause it sounds to me like your OS is over-writing whatever you do on boot, just a thought. If it's doing it while your running, that is kinda strange but give that a shot.
