Try using dig instead, nslookup is deprecated -

# forward lookup
dig <hostname>

# reverse lookup
dig -x <ip_addr>

Who manages the dns server ?

Actually using nslookup in linux or in unix looks fine

I am using mac osx and i tried to execute this command on the terminal
nslookup tailin70 and it was ok

but for windowsxp when i run cmd then type this nslookup tailin70
it has an error

nslookup tailin70

88.50.168.192.in-addr.arpa
primary name server = local.dns.com
responsible mail addr = rsumook.local.dns.com
serial = 1288147056
refresh = 10800 <3 hours>
retry = 3600 <1 hour>
expire = 604800 <7 days>
default TTL = 38400 <10 hours 40 mins>
*** Cant find server name for address 192.168.50.88: No information

Thanks for your reply

My DNS server runs on Linux and Im using WEBMIN with ISPCONFIG2, the IP I was used is 192.168.50.88

I put this IP in my DHCP Server from DNS or DOMAIN-NETWORK
I gathered all MAC address of my workstation and updated it in my DHCP Conf. when my DHCP started my workstation has automatically have an IP based on my config. also including DNS

for example

IP Address: 192.168.50.100
Sub. M: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.50.1
DNS1: 192.168.50.88
DNS2: none

I think this is correct configuration but im confused in my webmin config.

when i created domain in ispconfig all configuration from ispconfig it will set automatic in webmin...

thanks
