Dns +dhcp

I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff so could really do with somme help!! I have a small LAN with with 5 hosts running Redhat in various guises from 7.1 to 9. Originally the addresses and names were manually configured no problem, cold ping either hostname or address and get a response. Things started to go pear shaped when I decided to tinker with DHCP and DNS. I successfully (I think) set up DHCP service on the Redhat 9 box and then went to each host and ifconfig eth0 and saw that the assigned address was in the range, and could ping each host address. how do I now set up the Redhat 9 box as a DNS server to resolve the DHCP addresses to hostnames so that I can ping the hostnames from any host and get a reply? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong!? Tried various books and HOW-TO's but can't seem to make any head way!! Any help will be much appreciated, thanx in advance

add something like this to your dhcpd.conf file:

host pc-client-01 {
hardware ethernet 08:00:2b:xx:xx:xx;
fixed-address pc-client-01-yourdomain.com;
}

then, map 'pc-client-01-yourdomain.com' to an IP address in your dns db file.
