DNS & Top Level Domain

I just installed my first DNS server!
I configured my domain (locally).

Now i face this problem:
i want to register a local "Top Level Domain".
what i mean:
when a user type: "www.test.abcd" to open local pages....
nothing will be visble from outside ofcourse....
is this possible?

yep and is used all the time in private networks especially in vpn's.

use the same method as usual to add the domain.

One note all clients which you want access to the domain must use your dns server, since this name will not be propagated across the Internet no other dns will know of it.

also if you tell your friends to use you as there dns they will also gain access to the names, though spending $15 for a real domain is much better solution.

ofcourse i can use serveral dns if all of them are syncronized to the master one ;)

finally, my solution was working (some dns had problems with updating the zone...) now everything is working ;) [yep, as you said like the domain!]

thx for replies!!
