Dlink DVC-1000 passthru Linux?

Has anyone managed to make a standard IP Tables w/NAT (ie. Linux Firewall) work with the Dlink DVC-1000 or DVC-1100 videocam? I can get it to work via the public IP address and appropriate port forwarding on any firewall in existence (Sonicwall, Cisco, Dlink, etc.) but a Linux firewall. I have the same problem with any current or hacked firmware for the Linksys WRT54G, which is also based on Linux.

Public IP --> Linux firewall eth1 --> NAT to eth0 --> internal IP on DVC-1000.

The link above outlines the problem on the Linksys WRT54G which is where I want it to work, but the problem also exists in Linux in general. I used "Linux" as my subject header simply because this is a Linux forum. It's my understanding this is a common problem, so I'm very interested in a reply from a DVC-1x00 user. Have you made it work through any Linux NAT with port forwarding?

I have the exact same problems the user above (link) has.
