DIY router

Will any of these work with a wired-only router:
DD-WRT
FreeWRT
HyperWRT Thibor
OpenWRT
Tarifa
X-Wrt
Tomato
So far as I can tell, they are only for wireless sort, but wish to confirm this, before I forget about them. Thanks.

I've used dd-wrt as wired only. Granted that the hardware had wifi. There are options to change what is on/off and such. Not that I trust any of those embedded firmwares as they tend to linger on very old kernels. Plus they tend to enable too much by default. Just be sure to configure them before connecting them to the internet.

Most of those describe a lan and a wan side. They use iptables and black and white lists. Openwrt may have some plug ins depending on your model. The wifi really has little to do with the firewall features in your question.
