Question disk imaging

Here is what I want to do.

I have several machines some are win 32 most are linux. When I do a fresh install I would like to image and store the image on a server. When I do a re-install I would like to simply blow that image out onto the target machine and call it a done job.

I did some research a while back and I seem to remember that Knoppix came up a lot. Could anyone me point in the right direction to help get this little project jump started again.

Much thanks to any and all.

Partimage comes on knoppix and is what you'll want to use for the imaging. Here's a link on partimage and it's use:

http://www.desktop-linux.net/backups.htm

The strategy would be to boot off the knoppix cd, set up the networking and mount points for your network share where you want to save the image or where you want to restore from and use partimage to do the job. Theoretically, it all seems possible but I would check the knoppix site for info on how to setup the networking:

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Partimage is the bit I couldn't remember. I'm back on track.
