Post Disconnect an NIC

Hello all.
When I use OpenVPN it created a Virtual NIC. How can I down it? For example :

tun0 Link encap:UNSPEC HWaddr 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00-00
inet addr:0.0.0.0 P-t-P:1.1.1.1 Mask:2.2.2.2
inet6 addr: 2a00:1a28:1167:9::1007/64 Scope:Global
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:74 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:3334 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
RX bytes:40441 (39.4 KiB) TX bytes:250440 (244.5 KiB)

When I use "ifdown tun0" or "ifconfig down tune0", It not worked . I use debian 7 x64.

Cheers.

See if NetworkManager thinks it owns the interface.
