disabling telnet !


i want to know whether there is any potential harm to my linux box if i disable telnet.as far as security is concerned which one stands out ---telnet or ssh?

no harm by disabling telnet.

as for standing out, telnet would to a cracker!
a hacker would probably disable it 4 u.

use ssh!

Effects of disabling telnet:
  • Users can not access system remotly via telnet

Telnet Vs SSH:
  • Telnet is unencrypted
  • SSH is encrypted, allows encrypted port forwarding, and lots of other goodies.

SSH wins everytime.

There is even a good client for a common desktop OS
