Disabling DHCP

Hi,
I use Redhat linux 7.2, and I'm very new to it.

I'm trying to disable DHCP in order to set my computer up with a static IP address. Can anyone explain how to disable DHCP so I can do this?

Also, somewhat unrelated... But how do you manually find the appropriate drivers for your network card? When I installed Redhat, it just found and installed the drivers for me. But say I add an additional network card to the computer. How would I find/install the necessary drivers?

Thanks ahead.

here is the answer to your questions

go to gnome- look for system settings, go to Network configuration
make sure that you know the root password that you set at install you will need it, look for the nic card configuracion, from there you can desable dhcp in the nic card settings. ( sorry I donot remeber the gui iterface of redhat 7.2)

and concerning how to add drivers, well if you new nic card is supported by 7.2 ) you will no need to set drivers linux does it for you, of course .
