Disable mail server and allow alias to work?

Hello,
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot...

We have a Linux box set up as our mailserver with two domains. I'm not sure but I think domain2 is an alias.
"domain1.com"
"domain2.com"

domain1 has been moved over to a MS Exchange box. What's the best way, or is there a way to disable domain1 from receiving and sending mail. And allow domain2 to function as is?

Thanks,
Tony

You need to modify DNS configuration so that the MX record for domain1.com to point to the IP of the Exchange Server and set a different MX record to have domain2.com point to the existing server.

It is the DNS MX record that lets people determine where to send smtp traffic for email.

So there is no way of actually disabling domain1? It has to be redirected to the exchange server?

Perhaps I misunderstood your question. I thought you WANTED domain1 emails to go the Exchange server?

My point was that while you might configure your email to reject the domain1 emails that doesn't make them go where they belong on the Exchange server. Somewhere there has to be an MX record pointing to a mail server or all your domain1 emails simply don't go anywhere. If the MX record is pointing to Exchange you don't really need to reconfigure the mail on the Linux server because it would never receive the domain1 emails in the first place.
