Is it possible to share files between a win2000, win98 and a rh7.0 computer? I wanted to share the mp3's I have on my win2000 server with my linux server, but I don't wanna chew up all my disk space on my linux server. Any ideas? Right now I am just ftping them over listening then deleting them.

The best way to share files like that across a network consisting of Windows and Linux would be Samba.

Samba what? do you know where I can download it from?

Look in the RPM folder of your distribution CD.

There r 3 rpm's u have to install

samba-version.i386.rpm
samba-client-version.i386.rpm
samba-common-version.i386.rpm

This is the command I use to install samba

"rpm -ivh samba-version.i386.rpm"

Thats is 4 the installation, now all u have to do is configure samba
the configureation file depends on what version of linux u r using it's usually in /ete/smb.conf fle or /etc/samba/smb.conf

Read the howto or go to http://www.samba.org for configuration tips
(its pretty much straight forward).

What kind of install did you originally install when installing RH7, if you installed a custom and installed everything, you will already have Samba installed, you'll just have to configure it from there. I am not sure about the workstation install and or the server install. Just something you might want to check before trying to install manually if it already exists.
