Question dial up modem application

Dear all,
i am currently developing a application which will dial to the remote site by a 56k modem. there are many remote sites but i am now only using some multi-port rs232 PCI card in my server. i think i need a t1 interface if i move to higher density of phone line, so i would like to know what kind of hardware and the system architecture it should be.
thanks a lot!!
