Dial-up internet speed: < 1 KB/s HELP!!
Hi all,
I am just trying out Fedora Core for the first time, (used to use SUSE,) and have been able to solve most of my problems on my own. However, I have one major problem that I have not been able to solve. I am on dial up, and I normally get speeds of around 4 KB/s. However, with Fedora Core 3, I get less than 1 KB/s!!! This makes web browsing painfully slow.
Does anyone know what might be causing this? I am using a genaric hardware-based PCMCIA modem.
I would really like some help here. If there is any more information needed, _please_ let me know.

Alright, I ended up fixing this one by myself also.
Just for anyone else who might end up having this problem, the issue was that the default baud rate was set 460800. However, that was not supported, (or something like that,) so it connected at 9600 instead. I changed the baud rate to 57600, and it works great!

BTW, after spending a few days at 1KB/s, I am not going to complain about 4 KB/s for quite a while!
