Dial up connects, but can't ping or browse
Hello, I have zoom ext v.92 56K modem and it works perfectly on my windows box, but on mandrake 9.2 it connects to my isp ( it is sbc yaoo! dial ) and i can't browse the web or go on irc, or even ping. It says unknown hosts when pinging or browsing. I typed 2 dns's correctly and set up alright. I use Kppp.
Anyone know why is this happening?
Thanks.
EDIT: Also, it worked perfectly on mandrake 8.2 but with msn.

i cannot ping ip addresses, plus "assign default route to the gateway" box is checked, and i tried connecting with it being unchecked but it still didn't work.

hi rob0t. Did you or anyone solve this problem? I bought an external modem yesterday (I previously had an internal modem) and tried it when i got home. The same thing is happening to me, the dial up connects but I cannot browse any web pages. I am looking for answers in the net when I came upon this post. Please help if you know the solution to this. Thanks in advance.

Nope, wasn't able to try to solve it anymore, since I bought ADSL line soon after.

You should get default route and dns by kppp. I don't think you should assign manuallydefault gw or DNS

Yeah I think so too, but I don't think it worked for me. It did work with KPPP, but not text mode.
