dhcpd will not start

I am trying to migrate my dhcp server to slackware. I set up the conf and leases files and when I try to start the server it does not complain about anything nor does it start. Output of messages only shows the copyright statement. This is the install that came with slack 9.1; I don't know what to do other than download and recompile something else.

I do not have a start-up script so I am starting by:

Code:
dhcpd -f eth0
Is there anything else I could try first?

Thanks

Any log messages? /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog
