dhcpd - Not configured to listen on any interfaces.

I have a USB ADSL modem working with MDK 10 (cxacru drivers) and want to share the connection through my ethernet card to connect to my desktop with my laptop. I installed dhcpd and have been trying to get it to work without success. I'm a complete newbie in networking but it seems to me that dhcpd isn't aware of of eth0 and gives me this message when I try to start it with /usr/sbin/dhcpd

Not configured to listen on any interfaces!

('# service dhcpd start' just gives an error without explanations)

ifconfig shows:
atm0 (usb modem)

route just gives me atm0 & lo, but no eth0

If I try '# route add -host dev eth0' (which I'm not sure what means, saw it on some dhcpd how-to) I get the following message: 'SIOCADDRT: No such device'

Any help appreciated, will post /etc/dhcpd.conf or other info if needed,

You have installed the server dhcpd..

You need the client dhcpcd to get an ip allocation from your ISP
