Ok here we go... I have a Dlink pcmcia 10/100 card and the card itself and the drivers are loaded properly. When the computer is started it gets to the point where it looks up the ips from the dchp server and it spits out an error but it runs past it while logging in so fast I cant read it. First I want to say yes the ethernet is configured before the lookup occurs. When I run the dhcpcd from the command line it stops for a sec and then goes back to the command line and says nothing. I can't get to the internet from the laptop which is its only use. I'm using slackware 9.0 also I ran a search on the forums here and none of the previous posts were any help to me. Any help would be appreceated.
These are the settings for my router if that can help anyone.

Ok I dont know where the boot log is located or what its called. ifconfig produces this message:
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr: 127.0.0.1 Mask: 255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
The first command you asked me to run produced a several screen long message if you really need it I will post. But if someone could tell me where the boot log is in slack 9 then I think I can find the exact error.
dmesg prints the boot log to stdout. If you want to capture it, redirect it to a file: 'dmesg > report', then open it with some editor and copy it, and paste it into your post.
ifconfig is telling you it hasn't found eth0. I don't know Slack at all. If its at all like Gentoo you should be able to manually start up the dhcpcd daemon by typing (as su) 'dhcpcd eth0'. But it will probably just give you the same sequence of error messages that you saw fly by on boot up. Capture them with a redirect and post them and we'll see what's going on.
