I kinda new to linux after a break of about 5 years and i recently installed SUSE 10.1 RC3 on my laptop. The problem is my internet connection through a lan. when i boot suse it doesn't work but if i run the dhcpcd and then dhcpcd -n command, it starts working. i have a feeling this might be something simple to solve but i'm just stumped for now....

i'm in a university using the university network, if that is any additional help.

Sorry if this has been already been covered but i tried searching for it and i couldn't find something that helped.

First, make shure you have a proper ip, subnet-mask, dns and gateway config.

Once you make the apropiate changes try reestart your services via /etc/init.d/network restart (as root).

If that doesn't work it may be some problem or bug asociated with the dhcp deamon because of the fact that you're using a RC of SuSE. An RC is not a final version and it's very common to have these kind or errors. So, i recommend to look for a "stable" version of suse or other distro and chances are that you will not have this kind or problem.
