dhcp3-client
 

I just installed that and when i try to use it i get:

socket: Protocol not available - make sure
CONFIG_PACKET (Packet socket) and CONFIG_FILTER
(Socket Filtering) are enabled in your kernel
configuration!


The old dhcp-client worked fine..

Probably you will need your kernel configured with those parameters set (CONFIG_PACKET and CONFIG_FILTER).
