dhcp...works in XP, but in Red Hat 9 can't get out of intranet
Okay here's the deal...I know someone is going to need some information on my network. The problem is I really don't know how to get the info for you...so here's what I have...
The problem is this. Everything works great under Windows XP using DHCP. Under Red Hat 9, IM works (gaim) and I can load local intranet pages in Mozilla (school web pages). My school network is behind a firewall. There is a server called "platinum" that you have to go through for Internet access. DHCP seems to work somewhat, as it pulls the necessary IP information, but I still can't connect to platinum to access the Internet. I've gotten this working in RH before, so I know it can work, but I don't remember what I did to get it to work (had some help from a friend). Normally I would connect to platinum...it pops up with some BS prompt asking me for an ID and password (student ID etc)...this does not come up and it tells me it timed out attempting to connect to platinum.
Any ideas? Let me know if you need more info and where that info can be ascertained. Thanks!
