dhcp server address

hi there,
I have linux multi-homed machine serving dhcp addresses to my local machines. when i first connected a windows machine to this server it got the address alright but the dhcp server address it gave was different. I have the internal network connected to x.x.1.1 but the server address it gave was x.x.2.1 which is on my computer but has been disabled and not connected to any network.
so my question i guess here is form where does the windows client get the dhcp server address, I sure didnt put it in the dhcpd.conf.

can anyone please explain??

thank you

The window box get it's address from the Linux DHCP server
as defined in dhcpd.conf, is you Linux server setup as a gateway? Have you tried restarting the nic interface on the
Windows box, to make sure your getting a clean ip?
Also check /var/log/messages for DHCP/network related
connect messages.

Please post dhcpd.conf.
