dhcp problem (windows to linux)

hi

i have a strange problem,,,

well i would like to connect my windows to linux server,,,
MY DISTRO:RHEL4
i am using vmware workstation 5.5.0 build ( made my linux server(AS) and client there) and have my windows running on my laptop smoothly

i have made a dhcp server,,,(linux firewall off){on vmware}(bridged ethernet}

change the network conf of windows to dhcp (windows firewall off)

question:: my windows is not accepting dhcp ip and is not pinging to my (vmware) linux server while while my linux client(on vmware) is working and pinging properly via dhcp,,

then why not my windows is not working,, i am really getting pissed off because of this,, any one have any solution?

p.s.- i guess my dhcp server is working fine ,, as my linux client gets its ip address

cheers

Check whether it should be on the same network subnet - DHCP won't pass across any router. The VMware systems will be on the same subnet, which is probably one picked by VMware...

well subnet is the same,,, and i guess the whole subnet things depends on ur dhcp server ,,
1.the range u give
2.the network id u define
3.the name server u give

so if ur dhcp server is on the range of 10.0.0.0 then ur own static ip shud be of 10.0.0.X,, and i guess i have done like tht exactly

cheers
