dhcp hostname

How do I tell my system (Fedora Core 3) to use the hostname given to it by DHCP?

Earlier I set the hostname manually. Now I tried running system-config-network which doesn't mention hostnames (only IP). I tried uncommenting HOSTNAME in /etc/sysconfig/network. Neither of those helped.

The Windows machines on my network pick up hostnames OK.

Earlier versions of RH used a reverse DNS lookup on the IP address they were assigned to determine their hostname. They didn't get it from info provided by the DHCP server. I've never used FC so I don't know if that's how they work or not.
Do you have a DNS server on your network that has a reverse zone for the IP addresses issued by your DHCP server? You might try it and see if that works
