DHCP- 1st timer

Hi All,

I'm trying to start my new dhcp3 daemon but am having trouble. /var/syslog reports:

Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: Wrote 0 leases to leases file.
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd:
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: No subnet declaration for eth0 (64.81.72.103).
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: ** Ignoring requests on eth0. If this is not what
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: you want, please write a subnet declaration
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: in your dhcpd.conf file for the network segment
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: to which interface eth0 is attached. **
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd:
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd:
Sep 11 14:15:14 localhost dhcpd: Not configured to listen on any interfaces!

Ok, I know its asking me to decalre a subnet attached to a NIC, in my case, eth0. How the heck do I declare this? Here's /etc/dhcpd.conf:

# option definitions common to all supported networks...
option domain-name "darklight.org";
option domain-name-servers 64.81.79.1, 216.231.41.2;

default-lease-time 600;
max-lease-time 7200;

# If this DHCP server is the official DHCP server for the local
# network, the authoritative directive should be uncommented.
authoritative;

# Use this to send dhcp log messages to a different log file (you also
# have to hack syslog.conf to complete the redirection).
log-facility local7;

# No service will be given on this subnet, but declaring it helps the
# DHCP server to understand the network topology.

subnet 64.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 {
range 64.1.1.1 64.1.1.254

}

# This is a very basic subnet declaration.

#subnet 10.254.239.0 netmask 255.255.255.224 {
# range 10.254.239.10 10.254.239.20;
# option routers rtr-239-0-1.example.org, rtr-239-0-2.example.org;
#}

Am I missing sometrhing?

Thanks,

ab

Maybe you meant to uncomment the first line of this:
Code:
#subnet 64.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 {
range 64.1.1.1 64.1.1.254

}

Thanks again for the reply. I'm starting the daemon at command line with:

/etc/init.d/dhcp3-server start

Cheers,

ab
