Detecting remote shares

Hi,
i'm a newbie, so please don't laugh (a lot!).
my quesiton is how do you detect remote shates under linux (nbtstat, translated under *nix).
i have samba installed and i tried nmblookup, however name_query failes to find any name.
of course, i'm interested in detecting windows and *nix shares (in case the procedure is any different).

Thanks.

To find SMB shares on remote machines, you would do:

Code:
smbclient -L target

To list all computers that respond to SMB name queries you can use the console command
findsmb. smbtree is console command that will scan for SMB that will also print the shares. These utilities should be included in the samba suite.
