Dell Inspiron 1521 no Wireless after install of ubuntu 11.10

I installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my dell Inspiron 1521 due to vista moving slowly but i had wireless with Vista. It told me 11.10 was not supported anymore so I upgraded to 12.04.3. Now I have no wireless connection. I hade no wireless connection with 11.10 either. I have a wired connection but no wireless. I have Ubuntu on two other machines in my home and they work perfect. if anyone can guide me through this on how to fix this it would be great.

hi google suggests you have a broadcom 4311 so confirm with

lspci | grep Network

now either you already have the kernel module and maybe the firmware or you don't

if true you may wish to read reply 5

if false, as the kernel does not have the module and/or the firmware issues you may need to build a new module

Dell does like Broadcom.
