delaying initialization...

Hi,

I am facing the following network problem in my LInux (Enterprise 3). It gives the following message when initializing the ethernet card -

"Bringing up interface eth0
Bringing up interface eth1: fealnx device eth3 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization"

I am not able to figure out if this due to bad ethernet card or what. However the light at both ends of the link is green.

Please advice how to fix this problem.

try to see if your nic is detected

Hi,

I am using Redhat EL3. I manually ran kudzu and it detected the nic card. I then configured the card using netconfig and assigned the IP address.

On doing the 'service network restart' it gives the error.

I am able to ping the IP address, and 127.0.0.1 also, but I am unable to ping to the other system.
