Default GW keeps dropping

Hi all

I'm at a loss with one of my server, the default gw kepps dropping for no apparent reason, issuing teh command route add default gw <IP_ADDRESS> works fine. Sometime lasts for days other times a couple of hours.

teh server does not get rebooted, it just drops this default route.

It's Mandrake 10, /etc/sysconfig/networking has the correct entries.

Anyone else had anything similar?

what are these correct entires? if you're aquiring the IP through DHCP and the GW statically then it's likely to be falling off then. If it is dhcp then you can override most dhcp clients to use your own gateway IP address each time.

if everything is purely static... i'd be left scratching my head really.. any dmesg output? /var/log/messages?

It's all static! there's nothing in dmesg or in var/log/messages. I'm scratching my head too! I've put a little script in now that adds the default gw every two hours to get round it (ish)

It's a bit bizarre and I've not got this problem anywhere else (have about 15 servers out there) - I may just rebuild it soon as it'll only take 30 mins from start to finish!
