default gateway blank ?

hi ,

im on fedora core 3 ,

im on a switched ethernet network , and my ISP hasnt given me a default gateway

im instructed to put it blank ,

how is this possible , how do i still find out the IP of the router ?

do i have to scan the network for a characteristic protocol or something ??

Hi,

if you're not using DHCP, then it doesn't make sense...
If you are, then do not configure manually a gateway cause dhcp will give you the correct one.

i dont think im on dhcp since i have a manually specified IP and subnet
mask .

so how do you find out the ip of the router ??
