debian networking

I installed woody, which installed 2.2 kernel by default ( and everything worked well in my network) and then I upgraded to 2.4.20. With 2.4, I'm not able to get my network work. (Noteven able to ping the network)

ifconfig shows the right address and etc/network/interfaces are okay. What am I missing?

I'm a newbie and would appreciate help.

Thanks

What are the contents of /etc/resolv.conf? Perhaps you need to add a nameserver

The nameserver is added already in the etc/resolv.conf file .I'm guessing something might have gone wrong in the 2.4.20 configuration of network options.

I did add packet socket and socket filtering, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there any combination that works, like is there anything I should disable or enable apart from this?

Thanks for the reply.
